How can I curl my hair my self and make it stay?

I want to have my hair curled for prom however I don't want to go to my hair salon, they lady is a little strange. My hair is thin and fine and doesn't hold a curl very well unless the hair stylist does it.

Any advice on how I can do it myself.

Personally I tink its wiser to have your hair set at the salon for temporary curl.

You can still do it youself if you buy the curler which cost you abt $50-$100....and you may not do a good job and you could have spoil your hair and mood.

Buy a professional curling hair spray - text makes a good one as does redken. Dirty hair holds a curl best, wash your hair the night before - fully blow dry it and leave it down. Have your iron on the hottest setting - pull your hair up in a ponytail, leaving only a little out at the bottom. Comb out about an inch of hair, spray it, roll it in the curling iron. It will sizzle - that is not your hair it is the product. Hold the iron in about 20 seconds. Push the button a few times and ease the iron out without unraveling the curl. Spray with hair spray. Once that row is done, comb another layer of your hair and repeat until your head is done. Finger comb and spray the heck out of it with hair spray. I use Big Sexy Hair by Michael O'Rourke.
