My hair is very stiff and hard. Help me please!!!!?

I am 16. I have jet black hair and i usually wear it short. Even though my hair is short it is very hard and stiff. I kind of feels like the plastic grass you use put in an Easter basket. I would like my hair to be soft. I want to grow my hair a little bit, but I feel my hair is too hard and will look wierd. My hair is usally 2-3 inches. So if anyone has anytips on how to soften my hair. Please help. I have prom in a few weeks and would like to look nice. Thank you in advance

before you shower and when your hair is dry. apply some conditioner and leave it in for 5 minutes before you shower. or go spend some money and hot oil treat your hair.

but i think you should really go out and buy some hair products
